It all comes down to control over supply chains The critical choke point is Heavy Rare Earth Elements: ➮ Dysprosium ➮ Terbium Without them, it is impossible to produce: ➮ F-35 fighter jets ➮ precision-guided missiles ➮ air defense systems ➮ submarines ➮ advanced military electronics China controls roughly 90% of global rare earth processing. Over 90–95% of permanent magnets are manufactured in China US controls less than 5% of these critical chains and remains dependent even for its military-industrial base. Such dependence on China is unacceptable Whoever controls processing and key components controls: ➮ production tempo ➮ escalation speed ➮ wartime endurance China is already using its advantages As a monopoly in processing, it is already dictating its terms to US It slows deliveries, complicates licensing, and restricts exports.
